California roll on a plate

A few days back I received an e-mail from The National Post, from a community called Gastropost, it’s a group of food lovers in Toronto. They asked me if I would like to participate in new food “missions” each week through email, which I can complete either at home or at a restaurant. I haven’t taken part of any food related missions or tasks for a long time so of course I accepted this mission.

Gastropost. Mission 148: Reimagine Food. Your mission this week is to tweak how something is traditionally eaten.

I just submitted my first “mission”. So exciting. Mission #148.

This is a California roll on a plate, basically all sushi material, but not rolled πŸ™‚ Who has the time and energy to roll them? Β I think it is just easier to eat it like this, and I’m not a very good sushi roller either πŸ™‚

GastropostVery easy, the only time consuming part is to boil your rice πŸ˜‰

Cut your cucumber, crab meat, avocado and tear the roasted seaweed into halves. And then set everything side by side.

IMG_0358 IMG_0360 IMG_0391I mean really, I don’t think anybody will need directions to make this πŸ˜‰ And if you like Philadelphia rolls, just use salmon, cucumber and cream cheese πŸ˜‰

I have to say it tastes great every time!
